Le Dôme

My favorite place for spectacular shellfish, soupe de poissons, salade de homard as well as sole meunière. Le Dôme has a distinctive Parisian look and feel to it, and a table facing the street is a great place to people watch. We began with André Perret's stunning 2005 Condrieu, which possesses great acidity for such a rich wine. The soupe de poissons was as good as any I have ever had, and the salade de homard was wonderfully rich with a cole slaw of lobster juices and lobster roe. The carpaccio of tuna was good enough to be served at one of Tokyo's finest sushi bars, and their classic sole meunière was as good as it gets - sautéed in clarified butter and presented beautifully. The freshness of the shellfish and seafood in Europe is always a treat, and simply exceeds what is usually served at the finest restaurants in the United States. This was a stunning meal with great food, terrific wine, and a lot of wonderful people watching.
