Roy's Kahana Bar and Grill, Lahaina, HI

In my opinion, one of the finest restaurant chains, Roy's has an outstanding wine list as well as imaginative fusion-styled cooking. One of our favorite eateries in Maui, Roy's again delivered delicious, well-prepared food, attentive but casual service, and a diverse but intriguing list of top-flight wines. While the 2004 Domaine Tempier Bandol Rosé is not one of the great classics from this superb producer, it is very good, with more residual sugar than usual. It will not make anyone forget the brilliant 2003, 2001, or 2000, but it is still one of the finest rosés in the marketplace. What a pleasant surprise to find the limited production Sine Qua Non 2001 Midnight Oil on the wine list! Outrageously sumptuous, rich, youthful, nuanced, and well-balanced, it was a fabulous foil for Roy's short ribs and rare Ahi.
