Beverly Kim & Johnny Clark Open Second Chicago Restaurant

It’s been a busy year for Beverly Kim and Johnny Clark. Hot off the heels of their Best Chef: Great Lakes win at this year’s James Beard Awards, the husband-and-wife duo behind one-MICHELIN-starred Parachute in Chicago’s Avondale neighborhood welcomed two new additions to their family, a third child and a second restaurant.

Wherewithall, located a mere stone’s throw from the Parachute digs, opens tonight at 3472 N. Elston Avenue. Designed by Charles Vinz (who also worked on parachute), the 50-seat restaurant features a 12-seat bar, private dining room and outdoor courtyard.

Guests can expect more relaxed contemporary American fare to match the vibe at Wherewithall. (The website adamantly states, “Come as you are, no dress code.”) Though currently open for dinner only and featuring a four-course prix-fixe menu to the tune of $65 per person, Wherewithall will eventually become an all-day eatery featuring coffee and pastries for breakfast and an à la carte menu during lunch hours.

Though sold out for dinner on opening night, walk-ins are welcome at the bar and patio, where diners are encouraged to nosh on snacks like roasted almonds, Cantabrian anchovies and dried sausage.
