Silicon Valley Wine Auction Raises $1M for Education

On May 19 and 20, the Santa Cruz Mountains Winegrowers Education Foundation hosted 1,000 attendees at the Eden Estates and Montalvo Arts Center in Saratoga, California for the fourth annual Silicon Valley Wine Auction. In this historic wine city in Santa Clara County, vineyards are nestled into hilltop residential neighborhoods while tasting rooms speckle the downtown below. The weekend-long event featured 50 local vintners pouring over 150 wines.

Live auction items included dinner for eight at Mount Eden Vineyards with meals prepared by chef David Kinch of Los Gatos’ three-Michelin-starred Manresa, as well as Formula One racing school at Lucas Oil Racing with professional race car driver and winery owner Thomas Fogarty.

The event helped the foundation raise over $1,000,00 for education programs serving the local communities of Santa Clara, San Mateo and Santa Cruz. One example is the Elevate Math program, which work to ensure more socioeconomically-disadvantaged students succeed academically and reach college-level education.

We can cheers to that.
