Sip On a Retrospective of Barbaresco Back Vintages at Matter Of Taste New York

In just a few short weeks, Matter of Taste returns to New York City for the final event of 2019. Held at the opulent Ziegfeld Ballroom in Midtown Manhattan, the event will feature over 250 outstanding wines at the walk-about tasting, each rated 93 or more points by our esteemed troop of Robert Parker Wine Advocate reviewers, as well as a number of stellar masterclasses, including a Spotlight on Produttori del Barbaresco

The Produttori del Barbaresco, home to 50 families and 250 acres of the Nebbiolo grape in the heart of Italy’s Barbaresco DOCG appellation, boasts a “proud past of Barbaresco, and the dedication of its creators have made the Produttori one of the greatest producers in a great wine-producing area,” per the wine commune’s website. Join The Wine Advocate’s reviewer for Italy, Monica Larner, for this exciting retrospective of back vintages referenced across some of the most exciting growing spots for the Nebbiolo grape.

“A tasting of Produttori del Barbaresco is absolutely unique in the Piedmont wine context," says Larner. "Not only does it allow you to taste the style of this one producer who works with one grape—the mighty Nebbiolo—but it allows you to taste multiple single-vineyard expressions, side by side."

"This tasting is both vertical and horizontal in approach: We will taste various vintages of the same wine, and we will taste the same vintages over various cru sites," she continues. "Produttori del Barbaresco follows an innovative cooperative model with 54 individual families who together farm 100 hectares of vines. This gives them special reach across the appellation to select the best fruit for their Barbaresco and Barbaresco Riserva wines.”
