A MICHELIN Inspector Dishes About the California Selection on the California Now Podcast

In an unprecedented move, Visit California’s California Now Podcast host Soterios Johnson does not introduce listeners to one of his guests during this episode.

That’s because Johnson’s first interview is with one of MICHELIN’s famously anonymous inspectors. It’s a fascinating look behind the scenes at our inspection process, and the timing couldn’t be better with recently released MICHELIN Guide California 2019, the first statewide collection of restaurant reviews since it first appeared in the U.S. Aptly-named “Mr. Inspector,” he shares all sorts of insights about the backgrounds of the team reviewing each restaurant, what it takes to make the grade, and why California is such a dynamic dining destination—including more details about why certain spots received stars and the restaurants where he's had some really impressive experiences, such as Providencen/nakaKato and Harbor House.
